Organic
food is produced using environmentally and animal friendly farming methods
without used any pesticides and artificial fertilizer and also free from
pollution caused by human or industrial waste, and processed without ionizing
radiation or food additives. That’s mean organic crops must be grown in safe
soil, have no modifications, and must remain separate from conventional
products. Organic livestock must have access to the outdoors and be given
organic feed. They may not be given antibiotics, growth hormones, or any animal
by products. For example, chickens that live in the villages those are free
from contamination and eating of natural foods such as bran and worms in the
garden.
There
are some ways to identified certified organic food types of label information.
The way is through “Made With” labeling claims on the front of the packaging.
For example, a certified organic pasta sauce may say “Made with Organic
Tomatoes” on the front of packaging. We also can identify certified organic
food is through individual ingredient entries on the ingredient list on the
side or back of the packaging. If a food contains less than 70% of its
ingredient by weight or fluid volume, excluding water and salt as organic, no
labeling claims are permitted on the front of the packaging. However,
individual organic ingredients that comply with USDA regulations may be listed
on the side or back of the packaging in the products
ingredients list.
The advantages of organic food are Nutrient – Dense Food.
It’s according to a State of Science Review done in 2008; organic food has more
nutritional superiority than its non organic counterparts. The second one is
the Stronger, More Energetic Body. It’s no pesticides, chemicals or processed
additives bogging down your system means a smaller risk of diseases, illness
and disorders in you. Nothing leaves you feeling tired and gross like unhealthy
junk food. The third one is the organic food is it tastes better than non
organic food. It’s because it made from the nature itself.
There are four types of organic food that are usually
readily available in most supermarkets. Among these are vegetables, fruits,
meat, fish and dairy products. Vegetables and fruits is the most basic food
sought after by people who loves organic food. Appearance of organic vegetables
and fruits are beautiful and looks fresh. To the person who cares of their
health, will certainly find organic meat and fish for the meal despite being more
expensive than meat and fish in most supermarkets. Types of organic meat and
fish also should be concern for the animals that will produce organic food must
be controlled and maintained nutritional as example, fed from healthy sources
rather than from other sources. As well as organic dairy products, to ensure
that it is organic dairy products, nutritional should be examined animals such as cows and goats that
had been produced dairy products are truly organic products.
Many factors influence the decision to choose organic
food. Some people choose organic food because they prefer the taste. Such as
food additives. Organic regulations ban or severely restrict the use of food
additives, processing aids ( substances used during processing, but not added
directly to food ) and fortifying agents commonly used in non organic foods,
including preservatives, artificial sweeteners, colorings and flavoring.
Besides, some people buy organic food for environment reasons. Organic farming
practices are designed to benefit the environment by reducing pollution and
conserving water and soil quality.
Organic refers to the way foods are grown, handled and
processed. Organic farming methods emphasize water and soil conservation and
use of renewable resources. Conventional pesticides and fertilizers are not
used to grow produce and grains. Instead, farmers manage weeds and pests by
using methods such as crop rotation and even beneficial insect and birds.
Organic meat, poultry, dairy products and eggs come from animals that do not
receive antibiotics or growth hormones. It’s important to note that organic
products may not be “pesticide free” because organic farmers are allowed to use
certain natural pesticides and a
small amount of organic food
may contain very low levels of conventional pesticides, usually from drift or
water contamination. Before a product can be labeled “organic”, a farm must be
certified to make sure it meets strict regulations. Companies that handle or
process organic foods such as cereals or breads must also be certified.
We can conclude that organic food is good for us because
organic agriculture feeds the earth, no need to ingest pesticides, farmers and
their crops are connected to the planet.
